May we have more translations?

I would like for this blog to have the novel as complete as possible. Is there anyone who can translate the missing parts of the novel from Korean, or from its Chinese translation, into English? Also, is there anyone who has a copy of the second novel and can translate any part of it? Don't worry if your English isn't perfect, you can send me your translations and I can correct your English.

It would be nice to have as much of the novel as possible online, so that English speaking fans can enjoy it.  It would be even better if the publishers would issue an English-language version, but if they haven't done it by now, eight months after the drama ended, I don't think they are going to do it at all. So I'm asking for your help.

Thank you to anyone that can help with this project.

  2. I am not the person who did the translation. I don't speak Korean, so I can't translate. The translation in this blog was done by Yogurutu, who has disappeared from the internet.

I wish someone would volunteer to do the translations of the parts of the novel that are missing, and also of the second novel.

  5. @jigokusan - Thank you for the offer of the second novel. I just want to make sure that you have the correct novel.

The first novel is called "The Lives of Sungkyunkwan Confucian Scholars Volumes 1 & 2" (성균관 유생들의 나날 1&2). This is the one that Yogurutu translated (the one on this blog) but it's not complete (Yogurutu only translated the parts she thought were best).

The second novel is called "The Days of-Gyujanggak Gakshins (Government Officials), Volumes 1 & 2" . Yogurutu didn't get a chance to translate any part of this second novel before taking down her blog. Is this the one that you have? If so, then send it to kai, not to me, because I don't speak Korean.

If you want to convert it to pdf there are several websites online that will do it for free, all you have to do it upload it. Just google "convert to .pdf"

@kai - Thank you for your offer!

To kai and anyone else who can translate from Korean: I have the entire first novel (Volumes 1 & 2) which I downloaded a long time ago from a website. If anyone would like to finish translating the parts that have not been translated, I'll send it to you. It's in Word format.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

  9. @jogokusan The first novel was in two parts, Volume 1 and Volume 2. If you got the book from Yogurutu's old blog, then what you have is the second part of the first novel (Volume 2), but you don't have the second novel. Yogurutu wasn't able to find the second novel.

The second novel is also in two parts, Volume 1 and Volume 2, and this is the one that Yogurutu was looking for before she shut down her blog.

I was hoping that someone who actually has the second novel--"The Days of-Gyujanggak Gakshins (Government Officials), Volumes 1 & 2"-- would be able to translate it for us.

If the publishers would publish the novels in English, I would buy them both.

  13. @unknown We don't have it. If you read my post and all the comments, you'll see that we don't have it, and I'm asking for help from anyone who can translate it. If I ever receive a translated copy of the 2nd novel, I will post it here on this blog. If you don't see it here, it's because we don't have it.

    1. Do you have the complete first novel in Indonesian? Would you be willing to translate into English the parts that Yogurutu didn't translate? It's a shame that it was never published in English. There are so many English speaking fans who would love to read the complete novel. It would be great if you could translate for us the missing parts.

    2. I've translated the 1-15 chapters of book 1.
